PEORIA, Ill. (WMBD) -- The Peoria Police Department announced that it has launched a new registry that could help keep the public safe.
The new online registry will let Peoria residents and businesses register their security cameras, according to a Peoria police Facebook post.
The registry will allow officers to quickly locate cameras near crime scenes to help with investigations.
All registered information stays private and officers will not be able to access a live stream. Officers will only contact people when footage is needed in an investigation.
Those interested in participating can register their camera here.
