VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. (WAVY) -- The father of Shaun Marlar spoke exclusively with 10 On Your Side's Andy Fox after Virginia Beach police officers shot his son for brandishing a replica gun on Wednesday morning.

Shaun arrived in town from Richmond, where he lived with his mother. His father said he was eyeing a job with a construction sub-contractor. While he initially showed up for work, he stopped following Monday.

On Wednesday morning, Shaun was spotted at AAAA Self Storage on Honeygrove Road after attempting to break into an administrator's car at a daycare facility next door. He was shot by Virginia Beach police officers after he allegedly pointed a replica gun at them.
