PLYMOUTH TWP. — Upper Dublin’s pitching dominance against Hatboro-Horsham continued in the state playoffs.

After shutting out their Suburban One League Liberty Division rival in all three regular-season games, the Cardinals held the Hatters to one run in their fourth meeting Thursday afternoon at Villanova Ballpark at Plymouth.

Luke Caron threw a complete game two-hitter to lead (1-2) Upper Dublin to a 4-1 win over (1-3) Hatboro-Horsham in the PIAA-5A state quarterfinals.

“(Caron’s) been someone that we depend on just as much as (senior pitcher) Austin (Dahl) and trust as much as Austin,” Upper Dublin coach Ed Wall said. “That says a lot for the age that he is at, but what he plays at is a different level – maturity-wise, composure and stuff – it’s a lot of fun.”
