Thousands of free gun locks are being distributed across Alabama. This initiative is funded by a $100,000 donation from Ann Brown, former chair of the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission, to the non-profit Safe Kids Worldwide.
Safe Kids Worldwide President Torine Creppy emphasized their mission to protect children from unintentional injuries.
“One child is one too many to get injured or die because of someone who gained access to a gun, didn’t know it was loaded, or used it improperly," Creppy said.
While Alabama does not have a state law mandating gun locks, some community members see their potential benefits.
