We were relaxing at the treehouse coffeehouse. There is a certain comfort in familiarity. We know what we like.

The downside of being in familiar locations is that we do not discover new places. Old Moneybags and I were contrasting the comfort of home with the joys of travel one day when one of our woodpeckers invited himself to join our conversation.

Except when their salaries and working hours are the topic of conversation, woodpeckers are not good listeners. They prefer the sound of their own voices.

That is especially true of male woodpeckers. Female woodpeckers, on the other wing, know you learn more by listening than by talking.
