How sweet it is — today is National Doughnut Day.

It may not be the most popular observance, but is one that should be celebrated with a local tasty pastry. Here are six spots to check out in Niagara.

Beechwood Doughnuts

Downtown St. Catharines is home to a doughnut spot that only serves vegan options. If the Google reviews can be trusted, you won’t have to sacrifice taste either. Beechwood aims to show “plant-based foods can be just as delicious as they are compassionate.” Flavours include lemon matcha, birthday cake and French toast. Beechwood offers next-day pickup and delivery. Beechwood is at 165 St. Paul St. It is open Monday to Saturday, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. (temporarily closed on Mondays until June 24); and Sundays, 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. (or until sold out).
