BELTON, Texas — The Belton City Council approved a grant application on Tuesday that would allow the Belton Police Department to utilize advanced license plate scanning technology.
The department will apply for the grant from the Motor Vehicle Crime Prevention Authority (MVCPA) to fund the purchase of six Flock License Plate Readers.
Police Chief Larry Berg said the license plate readers would provide real-time alerts for stolen vehicles and wanted individuals, strengthening the department’s ability to prevent crime and close cases.
The system also supports multi-agency collaboration by sharing information with other law enforcement agencies that use the Flock platform.
