Canadian wildfire-driven haze caused Toledo’s air quality to be “unhealthy for sensitive groups” throughout much of the metro region on Friday, but relief is in sight beginning this weekend.
Unhealthy for Sensitive Groups is a government designation for when people most vulnerable to degraded air quality need to take extra precautions, such as staying indoors more and doing less strenuous yard work or other exercise outdoors.
The more vulnerable are generally considered to be children, pregnant women, and people with cardiac and pulmonary diseases. Those who need to be outdoors might consider wearing masks.
