POUGHKEEPSIE – First responders from multiple agencies helped save a man who jumped from the Mid-Hudson Bridge Friday afternoon, around 2 p.m., from the Ulster County side of the span. A 911 dispatcher had alerted Lloyd police to the presence of a man on the span who appeared to be considering jumping 135 feet into the mighty Hudson River below. As the offers were a short distance away, the man jumped.
Several people in the area of the bridge were able to spot the body in the river, floating south with the current.
While Lloyd police were responding, the City of Poughkeepsie fire department was launching its jet boat from its slip at Shadows Marina and began racing to the scene. The firefighters on Marine One located the man and pulled him onto the fireboat moments after launchin
