Former City Councilman Ari Kagan pulls no punches when it comes to his Republican primary opponent, Councilwoman Inna Vernikov.
“I decided to run against my opponent because I believe she is an absentee councilwoman,” Kagan said in an interview. “She neglected the district.”
Vernikov, meanwhile, likes to point out Kagan became a Republican just three years ago.
“He voted down the line for Democrats, has always supported Democrats, has supported Chuck Schumer, was endorsed by Chuck Schumer, has supported Eric Adams,” she said.
