The Surrey Police Service (SPS) says a 15-year-old boy was arrested after another teen was stabbed Thursday.

Officers say they received reports of a stabbing in the area of 132 Street and 70B Avenue just after 3 p.m.

The victim — a 14-year-old boy — was found with a “significant stab wound,” the SPS said. He was taken to hospital in stable condition.

“Surrey Police Service officers then began searching for the suspect involved,” police said.

“Just before 5 p.m. they located and arrested a youth suspect a few blocks away from where the victim was found.”

The incident doesn’t appear to be random and the two boys knew each other, the SPS says.

The motive is unknown.

Anyone with information about the incident is asked to call the SPS at 604-599-0502 and quote file number 25-46016.
