One person has died and another is injured following a single-vehicle collision in Gatineau, Que., according to local police.

The collision happened around 3 a.m. Saturday on Laurier Street between Verdun Street and Allumettières Boulevard in Hull, police told Radio-Canada.

It is too early to say what caused the collision, police said.

The injured victim was taken to hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, police said, while the other person was declared dead at the scene by first responders.

The two people involved in the collision were the only ones inside the vehicle, but police would not tell Radio-Canada whether the person who died was the passenger or the driver.

The scene of the collision is about one kilometre north of Parliament Hill, across the Ottawa River.
