Angelina Gonzales knew how she wanted to celebrate her graduation from Azusa High School.
“The night before, we three had dinner at home and she said she wanted a trip to Cancun for graduation. That was her thing,” Angelina’s mother, Leticia Caraballo, remembers. “That night always stands out because her 18th birthday was coming up, and Christmas, and she was looking forward to all that.”
Life for the Gonzales and Caraballo families is delineated now to before and after their Angelina died on Dec. 20. Prosecutors say she was stabbed to death by an ex-boyfriend in Azusa. Her extended family, as well as the Azusa community, will be at the preliminary hearing for Daniel Rodriguez , 18, at the Pomona Courthouse on June 24.
