OMAHA, Neb. (WOWT) - A group of Nebraska mothers gathered at the Bob Kerrey Pedestrian Bridge Friday evening, wearing orange and calling for action to prevent gun violence.
“We really want to draw attention to this issue, and orange is drawing attention,” said Jen Fox, a volunteer leader with Nebraska Moms Demand Action.
“The best time to take action was yesterday, the second best time is today,” added Sen. John Cavanaugh of District 9.
The rally coincided with National Gun Violence Awareness Day and the beginning of Wear Orange Weekend, which is observed every year on the first Friday in June.
“Gun violence is preventable. There are common sense ways where we can all come together to end gun violence,” Fox said.
