We all know Coventry looked completely different a hundred years ago. While most of us will think of the very visible scars left by the Second World War, some of the change was less dramatic.

Coventry has always been a place with an eye on the future, growth and evolution a recurring theme. Even prior to the devastating bombs dropped by the Luftwaffe in the early 1940s, Coventry was already changing.

One city centre street in particular was a bustling hive of activity. Butcher Row has gone down in Coventry folklore - its timber frames and cobbled streets testament to its status as a medieval trading point dating back to the 12th century.
