An urgent search has been launched for two teenage girls who disappeared from a leisure centre.

Sofia, 13 and Carla, 14 were both last seen in school uniform at around 4.45pm on Thursday near Abraham Moss Library in Crumpsall, Manchester.

Sofia is described as possibly wearing glasses, with a slim build and with long dark hair.

She was last seen wearing St Monica’s School’s PE polo top, black shorts and black shoes. Carla is around 5ft 4in tall with long dark hair in braids, Greater Manchester Police said.

She was wearing a blazer from St Monica’s School, a black puffer coat and school shoes.

The pair were known to frequent Piccadilly Gardens in the city centre.

A spokesperson for GM Police said: ‘Sofia and Carla are thought to be together and are known to frequent Piccadilly Gardens
