Canastota, N.Y. ― Vinny Paz likes to joke about how he finally made it into the International Boxing Hall of Fame .

“I had to threaten him,” Paz says, referring to Ed Brophy, longtime executive director of the IBHOF.

In truth, though, his road to the hall was a long, difficult one.

More than 20 years after retiring with a 50-10 record and multiple world championships – and more than 30 years after an auto crash left him with a broken neck – Paz will finally be inducted into the Hall of Fame at a ceremony today at the Turning Stone Resort Casino in Verona.

Paz has visited Canastota several times for inductions, and made it no secret that he hoped someday to be on the stage getting a Hall of Fame ring.

Paz was thrilled to finally get the call.
