Millions of men are so in denial over their health they regularly lie to their GP about their lifestyle and fitness, according to a new study. Over a third of men confess they have told their doctor lies, including how much they drink, how much they exercise and how well they sleep, according to new research by Well Pharmacy for Men’s Health Week.
Almost a third also say they dodge regular health checks and put off seeking help when they have a problem. More than half of the men surveyed, 55%, delayed seeking medical help because they hoped the condition would go away on its own. A fifth struggled to find the time to make an appointment, while 18% were worried it was something serious.
Only 19% say they immediately see a GP when they believe they have an underlying health problem.
