Donald Trump stumbled as he climbed up the stairs of Air Force One , sparking comparisons with Joe Biden, the predecessor Mr Trump once mocked for doing the same .

Mr Trump, 78, was filmed losing his balance before quickly steadying himself as he boarded the jet to return to Washington DC after a golfing weekend in New Jersey.

The footage showed shock on the US president’s face when he tripped on Sunday, before he composed himself to smile and wave at the cameras from the top of the stairs.

Moments later, Marco Rubio, the US secretary of state , almost fell at a similar point on the stairs.

The White House has not yet responded to the clip, which is being widely compared to Mr Biden’s repeated public tumbles on the same stairs during his presidency.
