GEORGETOWN COUNTY, S.C. (WCSC) - The Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office is warning the public of a new scam call circulating in the county.

Sheriff’s spokesman Jason Lesley says that the scam callers are posing as a funeral home, telling people that they have an outstanding debt and demanding immediate payment.

Anyone receiving a call for a false payment from a funeral home should hang up and call their funeral home directly about their account.

If you have any questions on suspicious phone calls demanding money or threatening warrants for arrest, please contact the Georgetown County Sheriff’s Office at 843-546-5102.
