SAN JOSE — A man was stabbed to death following a street fight near Story Road early Monday, according to San Jose police.

A fight was reported at 2:33 a.m. in a strip mall parking lot on Story Road near Adrian Way in East San Jose, police said. Responding officers found a man suffering from stabbing injuries, and he died at the scene.

Police added that a suspect, who appears to have fled before officers arrived, has not been identified.

The deceased man’s name was not publicly released pending his formal identification and notification of his next of kin by the Santa Clara County Medical Examiner-Coroner’s Office.

Monday’s stabbing marks the city’s 17th homicide of the year investigated by San Jose police. The city had recorded 19 homicides at the same point in 2024.
