A Shelby Township police officer who shot and killed an armed Troy man in June will not face criminal charges for his actions.

The Macomb County Sheriff’s Office investigated the June 3 incident that unfolded near The Hot Spot coffee shop located at 48761 Van Dyke Avenue and turned over all of the information gathered by investigators to the Macomb County Prosecutor’s Office. After what Macomb County Prosecutor Peter Lucido described as an “exhaustive review” of the evidence, his office will not file charges against the officer.

“It was a justified shooting and no charges will be authorized,” Lucido said.
