Fire broke out Thursday morning at a home in Independence Township, officials said.

No injuries were reported and the residence was fully engulfed in flames when first responders arrived at around 5 a.m., according to the Oakland County Sheriff’s Office.

Sheriff’s deputies learned from the homeowner that the 5,800 square foot residence — located in the 5000 block of Forest Valley Drive — was unoccupied at the time of the fire, the sheriff’s office said.

Forest Valley Drive is near Clintonville and Clarkston roads. Neighboring fire departments provided mutual aid in battling the blaze, the sheriff’s office said.

A few hours after the fire was reported, The Oakland Press reached out to Fire Chief David Piche, but he was reportedly still at the scene and no other information was available
