LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Two housing units at the Nebraska State Penitentiary were damaged in Saturday’s storm, displacing 387 inmates.

According to the Nebraska Department of Correctional Services, there are no reported injuries and all individuals are safe and accounted for.

A man incarcerated at the prison spoke with a family member Saturday morning, and the family member told 10/11 News that the situation has been chaotic for inmates.

Several inches of rain water flooded the units, she said, and a variety of personal belongings were damaged or lost. She said portable toilets were being brought in.

The facility is arranging relocation plans for the impacted individuals. Visits at NSP are canceled for Saturday and Sunday.
