Call it projecting confidence or call it posturing, but whatever you call it, make sure you include the word bold. After suffering their first losing season in four years last season, the Dallas Cowboys have -210 odds at BetMGM to miss the playoffs again in 2025, but Dak Prescott isn't feeding into the negativity.

Quite the opposite, in fact.

In what Prescott likely thought was an off-record conversation between himself, Jerry Jones and Los Angeles Rams owner Stan Kroenke before the teams' preseason game Saturday, the Cowboys quarterback appeared to make a bold prediction. "We'll meet y'all in the NFC championship," Prescott told Kroenke, according to WFAA's Mike Leslie, who shared video of the interaction on X.

Done laughing yet? OK, I'll wait...

Alright, now that we've gathered our collective composure, I'll go ahead and cut Prescott some slack. The Rams are a good sleeper pick.

As for the Cowboys... well, most players are confident about their teams in the middle of training camp, let alone a veteran quarterback who's done his fair share of winning. So, no one should be surprised he feels that way. And after seeing Washington's surprise run to the NFC title game last year, every team probably feels a little more capable of doing something special.

But let's be real. The Cowboys aren't going to the title game. They couldn't even get out of the preseason game without CeeDee Lamb getting trucked by a ref. And isn't Micah Parsons still trying to force his way out? They'll be lucky to crack the top two in their own division over last year's NFC finalists. But respect to Prescott for believing in his team. That's where it all starts.
