BOISE, Idaho — A lightning-caused fire burning south of Tamarack Resort has grown to an estimated 2,792 acres, the U.S. Forest Service reported Thursday, Aug. 28.
The wildfire , burning in timber and understory about five miles southwest of Donnelly, has nearly 800 personnel deployed to contain the lightning-sparked fire. Crews have reported roughly 42% containment, as of Thursday, Aug. 28.
There was no change of acreage or containment between Wednesday and Thursday. The fire received precipitation from the storm system that came through Idaho, but officials report that it did not fully extinguish the fire. Now, crews will need to turn the soil and apply water to the remaining hot spots.
