SAN JOSE — A suspect who was arrested after police found a man beaten to death Sunday was charged with murder Wednesday, according to court documents.

Jerry Cao, a 42-year-old resident of San Jose, allegedly killed Randy Russel Munson, prosecutors said in a complaint filed with the Santa Clara County Superior Court.

Munson, 62, of San Jose, was found beaten to death at a home on Danze Drive shortly after 9 p.m., authorities said. He had injuries consistent with physical assault and was pronounced deceased at the scene.

Cao faces one count of murder with eight allegations of aggravating factors, including his use of a knife, prosecutors said. Prosecutors added that Cao was on probation, parole or supervised release at the time of the alleged murder, and that his “prior performance on p
