The final tie has been cut when it comes to services provided by the Arizona School Boards Association to the Peoria Unified School District.

The governing board voted Aug. 14 to decline renewal of membership with the Arizona School Boards Association. Governing board member Melissa Ewing dissented.

During the June 25 governing board meeting, the board approved both a membership agreement and a model policy program services agreement with the Arizona School Risk Retention Trust that cover some services ASBA offers.

Ewing requested the board consider the membership renewal with ASBA.

The district has long-contracted with ASBA, which provides policy services along with a number of other services to school districts, ranging from professional development to executive searches and lobbying
