PHOENIX (AZFamily) — Thousands of first responders in Arizona will now have to find new health insurance.
On Sunday, their provider, Thin Blue Line, will no longer be offering plans. Arizona’s Family Investigates has been looking into this company for months after several people reached out saying their claims weren’t being paid.
The Department of Insurance and Financial Institutions is opening up a special enrollment period for the next 60 days . It will allow these retired police officers and firefighters to get health insurance through the marketplace.
“I’m afraid, so that’s why I stopped going to the doctor,” Sonia Boirum said.
Boirum is afraid of the medical bills. She has insurance but about eight months ago says that provider, Thin Blue Line, stopped paying claims.
