A contract of $5.6 million for a Forest company to construct a new facility to house the Nelson County Department of Social Services received the Nelson County Board of Supervisors’ formal approval Aug. 12.
The board awarded the bid to Coleman-Adams Construction Inc. for a project that has been in the planning stage for years and will give the social services department a major upgrade from its current setup in two trailers on Front Street in Lovingston.
The county recently received four bids within its $6 million budget for constructing the new building at 37 Tanbark Place in Lovingston, County Administrator Candice McGarry said at the board’s July 8 meeting.
