At a recent public forum in Lovingston on the effects of federal funding cuts, Blue Ridge Medical Center Chief Executive Officer Rodney Johnson said a decline in its operational budget could result in lack of access, decreasing programs and longer wait times.
The Arrington-based rural health center, which also has locations in the town of Amherst and Appomattox County, is adjusting to cuts to Medicaid and other realities nearly two months after President Trump signed the “One Big Beautiful Bill Act” into law Johnson said across the state some patients will be forced to go to emergency rooms and subjected to lengthy waiting periods, which may result in them leaving untreated.
