Cuban rapper Chocolate MC could see his trial begin soon as he faces charges of allegedly soliciting a murder-for-hire plot to kill an inmate charged in the murder of singer El Taiger.
During Monday's hearing, a judge ordered that witness depositions be held on the same day, with the goal of starting the trial on Tuesday, August 19.
The judge also warned the defense that he will not allow further delays and emphasized that the court will not tolerate cases dragging on for months or years without resolution.
According to court documents, Chocolate MC, whose real name is Yosvanis Sierra Hernández, faces charges of written threats to kill or cause bodily harm and soliciting first-degree murder.
