Monday night, a Texas House Committee on redistricting heard testimony on controversial new district maps for Congress. The plan will shift more power to Republicans in Congress after the 2026 midterms. It was a direct ask from President Trump to Republican state leaders in Texas.

Monday, for the first time in two weeks, the Texas House crossed the 100-member threshold to begin work. 120 members showed up. Thirty, largely Democratic, members remained absent according to the Texas House roll call vote.
