OWENSBORO, Ky. (WEVV) — The inaugural Hockey Heroes 5K is set for Saturday, August 23rd at Yellow Creek Park, aiming to make hockey accessible to all.
Hosted by Owensboro Hockey Heroes, this event plans to raise funds for adaptive hockey equipment. The goal is to ensure that individuals of all abilities can enjoy the sport.
“This event is about more than just fitness or competition,” Shelley Barber said. “It’s about breaking down barriers and creating opportunities for people of all abilities to enjoy the game we love. Hockey should be for everyone.”
Participants of all ages are encouraged to dress in hockey gear or team colors. Awards will be given for the most spirited, youngest participant, and the turtle award, along with the top three finishers.
