CALDWELL, Idaho — A 51-year-old man was arrested Monday evening in connection with a fatal shooting after his teenage son escaped their Caldwell home and called police.

Delbert Cornish was arrested Monday on multiple charges after a woman was found dead in a home on Blaine Street. The Canyon County Coroner identified the woman as 18-year-old Hope Cornish on Tuesday.

Delbert is Hope's non-biological father, a Caldwell Police spokesperson told KTVB.

The incident began shortly after 4 p.m. Monday, Aug. 18, when the teen called 911 to report that his father was armed inside their home. The son told dispatchers he found Cornish with a gun when he arrived home, according to the Caldwell Police Department (CPD).
