NEW ORLEANS (WGNO) - Hurricane Erin continues to storm the western Atlantic with the expectation of growing even larger as it brings life-threatening rip currents to the East Coast.
Its currently located 665-miles southwest of Bermuda and 720-miles south-southeast of Cape Hatteras, North Carolina with maximum sustained winds of 110-mph as it moves northwest at 7-mph.
The National Hurricane Center says that "a turn toward the north-northwest with an increase in forward speed is expected for Tuesday followed by a northward motion on Wednesday then a northeastward motion on Thursday."
The NHC is forecasting that Erin's center "will pass to the east of the Bahamas on Tuesday then move over the western Atlantic between the U.S. east coast and Bermuda on Wednesday and Thursday."
