DETROIT -- The last time Hunter Brown pitched at Comerica Park, he was on the verge of losing his job.

On May 11, 2024 , the Houston Astros right-hander entered with an 8.89 ERA through seven starts and made his first -- and only -- appearance out of the bullpen. The Tigers’ starter that day was Tarik Skubal.

Brown allowed one run in five innings, striking out seven, and began a turnaround that has since led him to join Skubal as one of the game’s premier pitchers.

On Tuesday night, the two will be back on the same mound, this time facing off as All-Stars in one of the marquee pitching matchups of the season at Comerica Park.

After that miserable start last May, Brown finished the year 11-5 with a 2.46 ERA in his final 24 games , striking out 150 and walking 42 in 142 innings.
