PROVIDENCE, R.I. (WPRI) -- Gov. Dan McKee's newly hired campaign manager is stepping down less than three months after he started the job, as the incumbent Democrat struggles with questions over whether he can win reelection in 2026.

The unexpected departure of Rob Silverstein, a former political adviser to New York Gov. Kathy Hochul, was announced by the campaign in a statement Tuesday.

"The McKee campaign and Rob Silverstein have mutually agreed to part ways," said Mike Trainor, a spokesperson for the campaign. "Both sides wish each other well."

"The governor remains focused on serving the people of Rhode Island and continuing to run a strong reelection campaign to keep delivering results for working families," Trainor said.
