LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) - Governor Jim Pillen announced plans to repurpose the Work Ethic Camp (WEC) in McCook into an ICE detention facility on Tuesday.

In conjunction with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Secretary Kristi Noem, Gov. Pillen ordered the Nebraska National Guard to provide administrative and logistical support to Nebraska-based ICE officials in enforcing immigration laws.

A press release from Pillen’s office said 20 Army National Guard soldiers will participate in this mission, commencing training within the next week.
