BARBOURVILLE, Ky. (WYMT) - WYMT confirmed with Mitchell Madden that he decided to step down on Tuesday as the boys’ basketball coach at Knox Central High School.

Madden coached the Panthers for two seasons, guiding them to a 22-8 record in 2025 and losing to Harlan County in the first round of the 13th Region Tournament last season.

In 2024, Madden led the Panthers to a 51st District Title.

Prior to coaching at Knox Central, Madden coached Oneida Baptist Institute for one season.
