HENDERSON, Ky. (WEVV) — A home lived in by Shane Driskell and his family for more than five years has been reduced to rubble following severe water damage caused by spring flooding.

The house sustained approximately 24 inches of water in April, leaving saturated carpets, ruined floorboards, drywall, bedding and personal belongings. The damage was so extensive that Driskell decided to demolish the house and start fresh.

“It’s hard losing your home at any capacity,” Driskell said. “To watch it go slow with water coming up and just damage water. It’s gonna do whatever it wants to do. There’s no way of controlling it. Fires you can prevent, but with water, there’s nothing you can do.”
