The Town of Greenwich continues to monitor the impact of Hurricane Erin as it tracks Northeast offshore.
The storm remains out at sea, and it is not believed that it is likely to hit land in this region. But effects could still be felt in Greenwich’s waters and along the shore so First Selectman Fred Camillo is urging residents to be aware and look for updates on the storm’s potential impact.
As a precaution, the Department of Parks and Recreation has cancelled ferry service to Island Beach and Great Captain Island for both Wednesday, Aug. 20, and Thursday, Aug. 21.
No overnight campers will be allowed on the islands during this period and a decision will be announced on Thursday about the status of ferry service and camping for Friday and the upcoming weekend.
