Five school systems in Northern Virginia that rejected the Department of Education's demand they change their transgender policies are on "high-risk status," and will have to pay for certain expenses up front before requesting reimbursements for any funding from the federal government, the department said.
The Department of Education (DOE) announced the status change Tuesday, saying it's moving forward with proceedings to suspend or cut off federal funds to public schools in Arlington, Fairfax, Loudoun and Prince William counties and Alexandria.
