KNOXVILLE, Tenn. (WATE) — Christpher Hensley, the man accused of throwing a rock that injured Knox County Deputy Dalton Swanger, appeared in court for a preliminary hearing Wednesday.

The judge bound Hensley's case over to a grand jury after hearing from three witnesses.

Swanger was responding to a call of a possible shooting in the Powell area in June when he was hit in the head with a rock. The incident left him in critical condition and he was in the hospital for two weeks before being released.

The incident was captured on camera during filming for the TV show On Patrol Live.

The first witness to take the stand Wednesday was Deputy Matt Kirchner, Swanger's partner. He also responded to the call that night.
