Austin Robert Drummond, the 28-year-old suspect in the July 29 killings of four members of a family in Tennessee, spoke publicly for the first time in a recorded jailhouse call with a reporter.

Drummond told a NewsChannel 5 reporter that he had worked as a confidential informant. He said he was notified that his cover was blown in the weeks leading up to the killings.

"I was afraid that because I was an informant, things would go wrong, things would happen to me," Drummond said.

Drummond was arrested in Jackson earlier this month after a weeklong manhunt. He was charged with four counts of first-degree murder, aggravated kidnapping and multiple firearm offenses.
