GRAHAM, N.C. — A family dispute turned deadly Wednesday night when a stepfather shot and killed his stepson on Poplar Street, Graham police said.
34-year-old Thomas Jeffries Jr. was shot in the stomach and was taken to a hospital where he later died from his injuries.
James Thomas Daye, 59, was arrested at the scene and he faces the charges of murder and possession of a firearm by a convicted felon.
He is being held without bond at the Alamance County Jail and is scheduled to have his first appearance Thursday at 2:00 p.m. in Alamance County District Court.
Police said the incident appears to be isolated and that there is no ongoing threat to the wider community.
