CROWN POINT — A Munster woman was sentenced Thursday to 10 years for a burglary that resulted in a homeowner fatally firing at her co-conspirator.
Marysa Rodriguez, 23, was initially charged with murder in the June 1, 2024, death of Alijah Adams, 22, of Bourbonnais, Illinois, in a home in the 600 block of 169th Street in Hammond, according to court records. Prosecutors agreed to drop the murder charge in exchange for her guilty plea.
Rodriguez and Adams went to the residence without permission after a night out with friends, according to court documents.
Rodriguez allegedly knew Adams was planning to rob the residents of the apartment as they forced their way into the residence together, which sparked a physical fight that resulted in the homeowner shooting Adams in se
