MADISONVILLE, Ky. (WEVV) — A Madisonville restaurant that was linked by health officials in Hopkins County to a Giardia outbreak is speaking out.
As we reported in July , the Hopkins County Health Department sent out an alert about multiple human cases of Giardia.
The health department later linked the outbreak with the local Mexican restaurant "El Tapatio," after which multiple lawsuits were filed .
On Thursday, El Tapatio issued a statement, assuring customers that it was safe to come enjoy a meal.
The statement from El Tapatio's owners says their world was shaken when it was announced that the restaurant was believed to be the source of the Giardia cases.
The owners say they complied with the request to dispose of everything they had, and were told the food would be tested.
