MURRAY – Mark Kennedy will forever be remembered by those who knew him as a patriot who loved serving his community just as much as he served his country.
Kennedy died last Friday, Aug. 15, at the age of 77. According to his obituary, the Evansville, Indiana native served in the U.S. Marine Corps for 12 years, from 1965 to 1977. That time included three years in Vietnam from 1966 to 1969, and during his military career, he was awarded 14 medals and ribbons, including the American Bronze Star with Combat “V”, the Vietnamese Bronze Star, two Purple Hearts and the Combat Action Ribbon.
His career with the U.S. Postal Service included serving as postmaster in Murray and Marion, as well as manager of the Paducah Post Office. He was an extremely active member of Murray’s American Legion Post
