In the early 2010s, ACAC Fitness & Wellness Centers already had local gyms in Short Pump and Midlothian and was looking around the region for a third.

Its search at the time brought it to Scott’s Addition, which was in the early stages of becoming the city’s hottest neighborhood, and to Libbie Mill Midtown, a mixed-use neighborhood that Gumenick Properties had just begun working on.

As it looked at Libbie Mill, ACAC CEO Chris Craytor said it toured 4901 Bakers Mill Lane, the building that was then set to become a Southern Season grocery store, an anchor for the fledgling neighborhood.

The company didn’t end up striking a deal in Libbie Mill at the time, but Craytor kept the Bakers Mill building in mind.
